Data from CR shows that in 2023, they efficiently promoted high-quality railway construction, with the national railway completing fixed asset investments totaling 764.5 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. A total of 3,637 kilometers of new lines were put into operation, including 2,776 kilometers of high-speed railways, successfully fulfilling the annual tasks of railway construction.
In 2023, the railway projects among the 102 major projects outlined in the “14th Five-Year Plan” were advanced orderly, which significantly stimulated railway construction investment. The railway authority focused on “laying foundations, benefiting the long term, addressing weaknesses, and adjusting structures,” implementing 24 projects related to network connectivity, supplementation, and strengthening. A total of 34 projects such as the Lijiang-Shangrila Railway, the Guiyang-Nanning High Speed Railway, and others have been completed and put into operation. Additionally, 102 high-quality passenger stations like Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station and Nanchangdong Railway Station commenced operations. Furthermore, 112 ongoing projects are progressing in an orderly manner, including the Chongqing-Wanzhou High Speed Railway, the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line High-Speed Railway, and others. In addition, construction commenced on 9 large and medium-sized infrastructure projects such as the Weifang-Suqian High Speed Railway, the Shaoyang-Yongzhou High Speed Railway, and the Huangtong-Baise Railway. Ninety-two dedicated railway lines and 10 logistics bases have been completed.
